Rockum -Jack,
after fifteen years in CC, how do you describe the experience of
being part of one of the most brutal and famous band in the world?
We feel that we have became the best in our type of
music. By becoming better and heavier with each album, we rose above
the competition to become the best death metal band ever.
Rockum -The
music and the presentation (CD/DVD) of “The Wretched Spawn”, has
been very good welcome in Latin America. What can you say about this
last effort by CC?
It has something for everyone. There is technical
material, brutal material, and straight forward groovy material.
Rockum -When
I listened at the new CD I heard a combination of new elements that
makes it more interesting. Is there anything new that you guys used?
You can hear everyone’s writing style in their own
songs. My own style is straight forward, not too technical…
Rockum -Which
one is your favorite album by CC?
“ The Bleeding”
Rockum -After
Barnes left the band, in the next album “Gallery of Suicide”, we can
hear a clear influence by Fisher. Do you think that you guys reached
your goals when Fisher enjoy the band?
Yes. He can sing things that Chris Barnes could never
sing in a million years. We evolved past Barnes’ caveman growls.
Rockum -In
the year 1994 there was a CC’ concert schedule in Lima, Peru, but
the concert never happened. Do you remember what happened then,
because I had a ticket myself?
We were never told about the show. There have been
similar problems in other countries. These are rip off promoters who
use our name to rip people off and steal their money.
Rockum -Which
countries in Latin America did you visit, and which one was your
favorite?
We have visited Brasil, Chile, Colombia, and
Argentina. Chile was my personal favorite.
Rockum -We
know that CC have been on tour with many important bands. Which is
the most important tour that you have participated in?
When we toured with “The Misfits” in 1996. It was a
good promotion for us. We got to play for many different types of
crowds and gained new fans.
Rockum -Because
of the DVD/CD format, the new CD attacks those who illegally are
downloading music. Do you think that this is a new tool for artists
to defend themselves from “ music delinquency” ?
The DVD with the new album helps to fight piracy,
because you have to buy the album to get both, the music and the
video.
Rockum -Laws
in Peru against piracy had became more severe, now the fines are
five years in jail. Do you agree with these laws and have you been
hurt economically by these matter?
This has hurt our record sales, but more people know
about the band. I guess your time in jail should equal the amount
of music you have downloaded….
Rockum -ny
news about a tour in Latin America with this new album?
We may be coming to S. America in June. We are
working on it now.
