Interview with Gino Alache - Rockum
Hi TTEOTD ,congrats for your Bloodlust Album , I really enjoy it !
1.When & was the band was formed ( current line up)
We formed in June of 2003 and are based out of Florence, SC.
2.Who put the name of the band and why?
Actually our old guitar player who is no longer in the band came up with the name. He was in a discussion about being a mortician and to look through the eyes of the dead. After that the phrase stuck and we decided to use it as the band name.
3.How do you describe your style?
I think we are a melodic death metal band but we have so much more elements to the sound due to all of our influences. We definitely aren’t a traditional death metal band in any way and I don’t see us as being metalcore either. I guess you’ll have to be the judge!
4.Hey Guys ! the cover art of the Bloddlust 's Album is amazing Who designed it?
Thanks! Paul Romano came up with the concept and we all discussed ideas for it. We are very happy with the outcome of the layout and we definitely want to use Paul again for upcoming releases.
5.Your musical influence ?
I’m really into old school death metal from the early 90’s such as Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Death, etc. I’m also really into European metal and I’m a big fan of melodic stuff. All of our musical tastes in the band are very similar.
6.Your musical productions? ( demos ...etc)
We released an EP titled “The Scars of Ages” in September of 2003. That was our first release. We actually never put out a demo. We also have another release which is a split titled “The Annihilation of Expectation”. Our friends in the melodic thrash band, The Knife Trade, are on that release as well. “Bloodlust” is our newest full length out now on Prosthetic Records.
7.What do your think about the Religion ?
I think everyone should believe in what they want to believe. We don’t really caught up in religion like most metal bands do…we are kind of neutral you know?
8.What topics do you consider in your Lyrics ?
Well our singer, Anthony, writes all the lyrics so he could give you a better description but him and I both are really into forensics, true crime, and serial killers in general. He likes to tell stories and project imagery throughout the lyrics.
9.What is your opinion about the actually Metal scene in the world ... ( support , radio , tv shows )
I think there is really good support in the metal scene. It is getting bigger every year, especially with huge tours like Ozzfest and Sounds of the Underground. I think it will always be an underground form of music or else it wouldn’t be metal..
10.If you were A United States President..... what would you do for the world metal music ?
Hmm, that’s a tough one. I’d definitely like to make it more accessible in stores and on television.
11.Do you think the Satanism , occultism , the black magic is the same thing like Christian Religion ?
I think it all varies from person to person. I don’t really get into the whole religion thing…
12.Do you like the Swedish death metal ?
Yes, I am really into it. I am a huge fan of melodic metal so I am pretty biased, haha. Bands like At the Gates, In Flames, and Dark Tranquility are huge influences.
13.Cocaine, cannabis , Alcohol....just a little or nothing ?
I don’t do anything but I am speaking for myself in the band. I’m sure some of the others might disagree, haha.
14.Do you know something about LAtinamerica metal scene ?
No, but I’m very interested in it. I love to check out new music from different places!
15.Your future plans?
We have a lot in store for 2006. We are going to be touring and promoting the new album for awhile and try and get over to Europe as well. We are going to start writing a new full length sometime next year.
