Combining the bleak intensity of black metal with the ethereal elements of shoegaze, Want of Sin crafts an atmosphere both immersive and unrelenting.
Rising from the frigid depths of Wisconsin and the industrial heart of Germany, post-black metal force Want of Sin unveiled their new release, Hydrophobic , on February 7, 2025 . Combining the bleak intensity of black metal with the ethereal elements of shoegaze, Want of Sin crafts an atmosphere both immersive and unrelenting.
Formed in 2019, the six-piece collective has drawn influence from the likes of Cradle of Filth, Ghost Bath, and Der Weg einer Freiheit , forging a sound that is as unholy as it is haunting. Hydrophobic delves into themes of existential dread, the corruption of faith, and the suffocating weight of water as a metaphor for inescapable sin.
With its intricate layers of melancholic tremolo riffs, visceral shrieks, and soaring, atmospheric compositions, Hydrophobic is a sermon for the damned—spreading Want of Sin ’s gospel to all future sinners.
Prepare to drown in the abyss.
