Never in its long history had Lima’s National Stadium witnessed a spectacle as massive and electrifying as the one that took place on that Tuesday night. KISS, the band that perfectly embodies the meaning of “rock stars,” turned José Díaz Avenue into a volcanic explosion of fire, volume, and passion, driving more than thirty thousand fans into a frenzy. The gods of rock had finally conquered Lima—loudly, gloriously, and unmistakably.

The production was nearly flawless. Organized by ArtEs, every promise made during an ambitious promotional campaign was kept, a remarkable contrast to the technical missteps of previous concerts in the city. The only questionable choice was having Leuzemia and a rather uninspired Daniel F as the opening act a strange pairing for a band known for pure adrenaline and larger than life energy.

After that lukewarm warm-up, came the long, nerve-wracking wait. Thousands of fans—some curious, others fulfilling a lifelong dream—stared anxiously at the clock, counting down the final minutes before history. Then, precisely at 9 p.m., the massive curtain draped across the stage, emblazoned with the legendary KISS logo designed by Ace Frehley, fell amid a thunderous blast of fireworks and decibels. The familiar ritual voice echoed through the stadium:
“You wanted the best, you got the best! The hottest band in the world... KISS!”

And there they were, launching straight into Deuce as the crowd erupted in total chaos.

From that moment on, the show was a relentless parade of classics. Strutter, Got to Choose, Let Me Go, Rock ’n’ Roll and more deep cuts thrilled the hardcore fans. The setlist echoed the magic of Alive! and Alive II, giving Lima a taste of rock history. Sadly, it also revealed how limited Peru’s rock radio culture had become, as only the most loyal KISS Army members recognized every riff.

Each band member had his moment to shine. Tommy Thayer, faithfully channeling Ace Frehley’s spirit, fired rockets from his guitar during She and added his own twist with an Explorer guitar solo. Eric Singer proved once again that he is the tightest and most technically gifted drummer KISS has ever had, singing lead on Nothing to Lose and Black Diamond with charisma and power. A touching moment came when he paid tribute to the late Eric Carr, performing part of the immortal Carr Jam during his solo in 100,000 Years.

Paul Stanley delivered a masterclass in showmanship, effortlessly commanding the crowd with charisma, sensuality, and timeless energy. Meanwhile, Gene Simmons filled the stage with his trademark dominance and primal energy. Together, the two legends reminded everyone why KISS has ruled the rock world for over three decades living proof that determination, showmanship, and attitude are the true fuel of rock and roll.

As the confetti rained down during Rock and Roll All Nite, the stadium shook under the roar of thirty thousand voices. KISS briefly left the stage, only to return to the chants of “God Gave Rock and Roll to You,” led by the KISS Carnival Fan Club. The encore turned into a spectacle of pure fantasy: Gene’s blood-spitting ritual, his flight into the air for I Love It Loud, and Paul’s aerial journey over the crowd during Love Gun, landing on the sound tower in the middle of the stadium.

Before closing with a thunderous Detroit Rock City, Paul shouted, “Lima is a rock city tonight!” as fireworks illuminated the sky. The screen flashed “Thank you, Lima” and the night came to an explosive end.

KISS had left their mark forever. The gods of rock had visited Peru—and Lima will never forget it.
