About the Music Video: A Story of Struggle and Redemption
Coinciding with the single’s release, the music video for "Animus" delves into themes of self-loathing, addiction, and redemption. It portrays the harsh realities of self-destruction, temptation, and darkness that plague individuals in a world increasingly consumed by the pandemic of drug abuse and mental health struggles, particularly in Los Angeles.
Through an innovative fusion of Indian Kathak dance and progressive metal, the video bridges cultural and artistic storytelling to create a globally resonant message.
The Kathak dancer tells the story of Kali, the goddess of destruction, who fights to overcome the evils faced by an addict. Her battle with a malevolent force serves as a metaphor for the struggles of addiction and mental health, presenting a powerful narrative of hope and triumph over inner darkness.
The video offers a visually stunning and emotionally charged representation of overcoming vulnerability and finding strength amidst chaos, perfectly complementing FREYCUS’s intense and dynamic sound.
With a history of groundbreaking music and a growing global fan base, FREYCUS is ready to solidify their place in the modern metal scene with this new release.
