Canadian alt-rock band NEON BLOOM returns with Like A Lover, a fierce and dynamic single that blends modern grit with infectious melodies, marking a bold new chapter in their sonic evolution.
Toronto-based garage rock/synth-pop quartet Neon Bloom unleashes their most audacious track yet with "Like A Lover". Described by frontwoman Jen Simpson as a "libidinous joy ride," the track unravels with gritty guitars, frenzied rhythms, and a vocal performance oozing with confidence and swagger. The track nods to Nirvana, No Bro, The White Stripes, and early Led Zeppelin, but keeps its modern edge sharp.
Written from the perspective of a woman who unabashedly lives their life on their own terms with reckless abandon, "Like A Lover" is equal parts unhinged and intoxicating.
Channeling the rush of being on stage, Jen explains:
"This character is based on my stage persona - how I feel when [I'm] performing. On stage, it can be so freeing to pretend a bit [and to] play out exaggerated parts of myself in front of people. It's strange, but there's something primal and deeply liberating about it, like an exercise for the ego."
Neon Bloom, composed of Simpson (vocals), Fred Yurichuk (bass/guitar), Simon Chow (guitar/keys), and Chris Romano (drums/keys) has carved out a reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts in Toronto. Their genre-jumping blend of garage rock grit and synth-pop sheen has earned them features on SiriusXM, CBC Radio 3, Edge 102.1 (Alan Cross' Undiscovered Gem), Indie88, and more.
With this track, Neon Bloom hints at more to come on the horizon as they continue to build something bigger.
