After the KISS legend fainted behind the wheel and crashed in Malibu, his wife Shannon Tweed says she won’t ride with him anymore and calls for him to take better care of his health.
Rock icon Gene Simmons is recovering at home after being involved in a car accident earlier this week on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. The 76-year-old KISS bassist reportedly lost consciousness while driving and crashed his Lincoln Navigator into a parked vehicle, according to NBC4 Los Angeles.
A witness immediately called 911, and first responders from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and local fire services arrived on the scene. Authorities confirmed that Simmons was conscious and speaking with them after the collision. He was transported to a hospital for evaluation and later released to recover at home.
His wife, Shannon Tweed, told TMZ that doctors believe the incident may be linked to recent medication changes and dehydration. She added that Simmons needs to drink more water, something she admits, “he’s not a fan of.” Tweed also revealed that his SUV crossed several lanes of traffic before the crash and that the experience left her shaken.
“I’m not driving with him anymore,” she said, stressing that it’s time for her husband to make some lifestyle changes.
In a brief voicemail to NBC4 Investigates, Simmons assured fans that he is doing fine and recovering. Despite the scare, the legendary performer appears to be in good spirits and is expected to make a full recovery.
