The rock world mourns the loss of a legend as “The Spaceman” passes away surrounded by family.
Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley, co-founder and original lead guitarist of the iconic rock band KISS, has died at the age of 74 due to injuries sustained from a fall last month, according to an official statement released by his family.
Frehley’s family shared the heartbreaking news earlier today:
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
Ace Frehley was more than just a guitarist—he was a defining force in rock history. Known worldwide as “The Spaceman”, his explosive guitar style, songwriting and persona helped launch KISS into superstardom during the 1970s. With Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss, he formed one of the most influential bands of all time.
Frehley’s legacy includes timeless classics such as “Detroit Rock City,” “Shock Me,” “Cold Gin,” “Parasite,” and his signature solo track “New York Groove.” His impact shaped generations of guitarists and continues to inspire musicians around the world.
