After more than four decades of evolution, including a defining second era beyond Max Cavalera, the Brazilian metal pioneers prepare one final release and a global goodbye.
As Sepultura approach the end of a career spanning more than 40 years, the band have chosen to mark their final chapter not with silence, but with one last creative statement. The Cloud of Unknowing EP arrives as both farewell and reflection, capturing the intensity, depth and diversity that have defined one of the most influential metal acts to ever emerge from Brazil.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Sepultura’s legacy has been their ability to endure transformation. After the departure of founding frontman Max Cavalera in the mid-1990s, many assumed the band’s defining era had ended. Instead, Sepultura rebuilt, redefined and ultimately extended their second chapter beyond the length of their original era. Each phase of the band’s history produced its own milestones, proving that their strength has always been rooted in resilience rather than reliance on a single member.

Now, with the release of The Cloud of Unknowing via Nuclear Blast Records, the band prepare to close that story on their own terms.
To accompany the EP, Sepultura are currently on their global farewell run titled “Celebrating Life Through Death”, bringing their final performances across Australia, North America and Europe.

Whether remembered for the raw fury of their early years or the expansive experimentation of their later era, Sepultura leave behind a legacy that transcends lineup changes. Few bands in heavy music history have navigated reinvention so boldly and survived long enough to write their own ending.
