Swedish heavy metal force Tungsten continue their rise with a powerful new anthem following 2024’s The Grand Inferno, blending classic metal roots with modern intensity.
Swedish heavy metal force Tungsten return with a powerful new statement, unveiling the official video for “The North Will Rise”, a cinematic and anthemic track featuring Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica.
Blending epic melodies, thunderous rhythms and soaring vocals, the song captures the band’s signature balance between classic heavy metal tradition and modern precision, delivering a sound that feels both timeless and forward-looking.
Driven by an expansive atmosphere and a larger-than-life energy, “The North Will Rise” stands as a unifying anthem, a tribute to the spirit, resilience and identity of the northern lands. The chemistry between Kakko’s unmistakable melodic touch and Mike Andersson’s raw vocal power elevates the track into one of the band’s most compelling moments to date.
Singer Mike Andersson comments:
“It's such an honor to have Tony onboard on this song. He did a tremendous job. I think our voices fit perfectly together which makes ‘The North Will Rise’ extra special.”
Tony Kakko adds:
“Catchy like the cold in January on a Viking ship crossing a Nordic, half frozen sea! Truly a song to unite the people and friends of the North!”
The release follows the band’s previous chapter with The Grand Inferno (2024), an album that marked a significant step forward in Tungsten’s evolution and visibility.

With work already underway on new material, “The North Will Rise” offers a glimpse into the band’s evolving sound and what lies ahead for Tungsten.
Formed by former HammerFall drummer Anders Johansson alongside his sons Karl and Nick, Tungsten bridges generations of heavy metal. With Johansson’s legacy tied to bands like HammerFall and Yngwie Malmsteen, the group carries a strong musical heritage while building its own identity through a modern, melodic and high-energy approach.
Since their debut album We Will Rise (2019), Tungsten have maintained a steady upward trajectory, followed by releases such as Tundra, Bliss, and The Grand Inferno, each expanding their sound and audience.
Beyond the studio, Tungsten have built a solid reputation as a live act, touring across Europe alongside bands like Sonata Arctica, Firewind and Bloodbound, while appearing at major festivals including Sweden Rock Festival and Leyendas Del Rock.
The band is also set to appear at Germany’s RockHarz Festival in July 2026, further cementing their growing presence in the European metal scene.
With “The North Will Rise”, Tungsten continue to prove that their blend of classic heavy metal roots and modern melodic power is not only evolving, it’s gaining strength with every release.
