The band unveil a new chapter with “Oblivion” as they prepare to release Dissenter, their first studio album in a decade, marking a long-awaited return to the heavy music scene
American metalcore band Haste The Day continue their long-awaited return with the release of the official video for “Oblivion”, offering a powerful new preview of their upcoming album Dissenter, set for release on May 1 via Solid State Records.
The track follows the band’s 2024 comeback single “Burn” and marks another step in their reactivation after nearly a decade without new material. Their return also included a widely celebrated appearance at Furnace Fest, signaling renewed momentum for the group after years of inactivity.
Described by the band as a cinematic and emotionally driven composition, “Oblivion” expands Haste The Day’s sound into more atmospheric territory while maintaining the intensity that defined their earlier work.
“‘Oblivion’ is a cinematic, apocalyptic metalcore track that leans into scale and emotion,” the band explain. “The song balances heaviness with atmosphere, creating a sense of finality and awe. Lyrically, it tells an apocalyptic love story, grappling with loss, reconnection, and what it means to step into the void at the end of all things.”
With Dissenter, Haste The Day deliver their first full-length release since 2015, reconnecting with their roots while pushing their sound forward through a more expansive and cinematic approach. The album represents a continuation of the band’s legacy while reflecting their evolution as musicians.

Formed in Indiana, Haste The Day emerged in the early 2000s as one of the defining names in the metalcore movement. Albums such as Burning Bridges (2004) and When Everything Falls (2005) established their presence, while Stephen Keech made his debut as vocalist on Pressure The Hinges (2007), helping shape the band’s modern identity.
The group continued to build a strong catalog with releases including Dreamer (2008), Attack Of The Wolf King (2010), and Coward (2015), the latter achieving notable chart success, including Top 20 placement on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart.
Following a period of inactivity beginning in 2016, the band maintained a strong presence among fans, accumulating millions of streams and sustaining their influence within the genre. Their eventual return was met with significant anticipation, culminating in their reunion performance and the creation of new material.
With Dissenter, Haste The Day revisit their signature sound while refining it with sharper production, tighter songwriting and a broader emotional scope, reflecting both their origins and their continued artistic growth.
In support of the album, the band will perform a series of live dates across the United States, along with a scheduled appearance at Louder Than Life Festival later in the year.
