The project led by Joel Hokka and Pauli Rantasalmi expands its cinematic sound with a new single previewing their debut album Via Miseria IV
HOKKA continue to develop their cinematic and emotionally driven sound with the release of the new single and video “Blackbird”, taken from their upcoming debut album Via Miseria IV, set for release on April 24 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The project, led by Joel Hokka (ex-Blind Channel) and Pauli Rantasalmi (ex-The Rasmus), brings together elements of storytelling, atmosphere and modern heavy music, creating a sound that blends melody with intensity.
“Blackbird” highlights a heavier side of the band, driven by dark melodies, cinematic production and a dynamic structure that builds into a powerful and emotionally charged chorus. The track continues the narrative introduced in earlier releases, expanding the project’s conceptual universe.

With Via Miseria IV, the band presents a cohesive work built around narrative and atmosphere, combining modern production with influences drawn from classic heavy music traditions.
