The Swedish death metal band introduce “Wrath Unbound” as the latest single from “In Death Throes”, continuing their legacy after more than three decades
Swedish death metal veterans Vomitory continue their long-standing legacy with “In Death Throes”, a new studio album that reinforces their position within the genre they helped define. Formed in 1989, the band has remained a consistent force in extreme metal, building a catalog that spans decades of uncompromising intensity.
As previously covered by Rockum, Vomitory have continued to strengthen their post-reunion legacy within Swedish death metal.
Set for release on April 10, 2026 via Metal Blade Records, the album follows their 2023 return with “All Heads Are Gonna Roll”, marking another chapter in their post-reunion era. Rather than shifting direction, Vomitory continue to refine their core sound, pushing their established formula toward greater intensity.
The track “Wrath Unbound” introduces the album’s direction with a focus on heaviness and momentum. Built on driving rhythms, aggressive riffing, and a direct approach to songwriting, the track reflects the band’s ability to deliver material rooted in classic death metal while maintaining a sense of progression.
Musically, the album draws from influences that include Iron Maiden, Bolt Thrower, and Carcass, combining traditional elements with the band’s signature brutality. The result is a sound that balances melody with relentless energy, maintaining the identity that has defined Vomitory since their early years.
The addition of guitarist Christian Fredriksson contributes to the album’s dynamic, bringing new ideas while staying aligned with the band’s established direction. His involvement adds variation without altering the core structure of the band’s sound.
“In Death Throes” was recorded across multiple studios in Sweden during late 2025. Drums and vocals were tracked at Leon Music Studios in Karlstad with producer Rikard Löfgren, while guitars and bass were recorded at Goff Studios. Mixing and mastering were handled by Lawrence Mackrory at Rorysound Studios, resulting in a production that emphasizes both heaviness and clarity.
Visually, the album continues the band’s aesthetic direction, with artwork created by Giannis Nakos and layout by Seiya Ogino, reinforcing the album’s overall identity through its presentation.
