Exploring Birdsong Announce Debut Album “Every House We Built” and Present “You Like It Best When It Hurts”
UK trio Exploring Birdsong step into a defining stage of their career with the announcement of their debut album “Every House We Built”, a release that reflects the band’s evolving sound and emotional depth. Blending elements of alternative pop, modern heavy music, and cinematic textures, the band continue to develop a style that moves beyond traditional genre boundaries.
Set for release on June 26, 2026 via Long Branch Records, the album draws from personal experiences to explore relationships across different dimensions, including friendship, family, and romance. Using the concept of houses as a central metaphor, the record reflects on how connections are built over time and how they can unexpectedly collapse, leaving a lasting emotional impact.
The track “You Like It Best When It Hurts” introduces a more intense side of the band’s sound. Built around heavier arrangements and a dynamic structure, the song explores themes of self-destructive behavior and emotional cycles, marking a shift toward a more aggressive and expressive direction.
Throughout the album, Exploring Birdsong balance vulnerability with experimentation, combining melodic elements with heavier influences. Their sound integrates aspects of modern alternative music with a cinematic approach, creating compositions that emphasize atmosphere and emotional resonance.
Fronted by Lynsey Ward, whose vocal delivery remains central to the band’s identity, the group expands its sonic palette while maintaining a strong sense of cohesion. Alongside Jonny Knight and Matt Harrison, the band continues to refine a style that blends intimacy with intensity.
Following a period of growing momentum, including sold-out headline shows in London and Manchester and appearances alongside bands such as Katatonia and Sleep Token, Exploring Birdsong position this release as a natural progression in their development.
