The new band brings together members of King Diamond, Motörhead, and Death for a debut album set for June 2026 via MNRK Music Group
A new project featuring key members of the classic King Diamond line-up has emerged under the name Lex Legion, bringing together a group of musicians whose combined history spans decades within heavy metal.
The band includes Mikkey Dee, known for his work with Motörhead and Scorpions, alongside guitarists Andy La Rocque and Pete Blakk, and bassist Hal Patino, all of whom were part of the late 1980s King Diamond era. Completing the lineup is vocalist Nils K. Rue of Pagan’s Mind.
Lex Legion’s self-titled debut album is set for release in June 2026 via MNRK Music Group, marking the realization of a project that has been in development for many years.
Drummer Mikkey Dee describes the creative approach behind the band:
“We wrote what we wanted, the way we did in the ’80s… if you liked it, great — if not, that was fine too.”
The first single “Sleep Eternally”, released on March 31, 2026, introduces the band’s direction through a blend of classic heavy metal structures, melodic hooks, and dynamic arrangements.
Guitarist Andy La Rocque adds:
“It has elements of everything on the album… the right tempo and vocals, starting out like a fist in your face.”
Musically, Lex Legion draw from traditional heavy metal while incorporating elements of melody, progressive structure, and a refined production approach. The result reflects both the experience of its members and a renewed creative freedom.
The album also features the track “Gypsy Tears”, set for release in May 2026, continuing the band’s introduction with a more atmospheric and melodic direction.
With connections to bands such as Motörhead, Scorpions, and Death, Lex Legion position themselves as a project rooted in legacy while presenting a new musical chapter.
