The band present a new full-length release exploring emotional hardcore and noise-driven soundscapes through a conceptual approach
American hardcore innovators Converge continue their creative output with “Hum Of Hurt”, a new full-length release that expands on their recent work.
Set for release on June 5, 2026 via Deathwish and Epitaph, the album deepens the band’s exploration of sound and emotion, presenting a work that builds on their evolving creative direction.
The album is inspired by the phenomenon known as “The Hum”, a low-frequency sound reported in different parts of the world, reinterpreted by the band as a manifestation of collective human suffering.
Vocalist Jacob Bannon explains:
“What if ‘The Hum’ is the culmination of all the pain in the world… creating an audible signal across the universe?”
Musically, “Hum Of Hurt” leans toward a more raw and emotionally driven direction, incorporating elements of hardcore and noise rock while maintaining the intensity that defines Converge’s sound.
Bannon adds:
“This one leans more into being an emotional hardcore album… with its own identity and character.”
The title track, released alongside a music video, stands as one of the most expressive moments of the album, reflecting on personal and artistic sacrifice.
The album was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City Studio, continuing a long-standing collaboration that has shaped the band’s sonic identity.
