The Swedish melodic death metal pioneers preview their upcoming album, set for release on April 24 via Century Media Records
Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates present “The Dissonant Void”, a new single accompanied by an official video, offering further insight into their upcoming album “The Ghost of a Future Dead”, scheduled for release on April 24, 2026 via Century Media Records.
The track reflects the band’s established identity, combining melodic structure with a direct and focused approach, maintaining the signature sound that has defined At The Gates across decades.
At The Gates continue to maintain a strong presence across both studio releases and radio exposure, as featured on Gino Alache's Rockum Radio Show.
In a statement, the band described the track as:
“a powerful, melodic and to the point track with the classic At The Gates style sound.”
The accompanying video forms part of a broader conceptual visual project developed by longtime collaborator Costin Chioreanu, whose work expands the album’s narrative into a unified visual experience.
Chioreanu commented on the scope of the project:
“This video… together with the whole ‘The Ghost of a Future Dead’ movie, represents my ultimate homage… It was a colossal task to express visually the depth and the darkness of these lyrics and music.”
The album follows “The Nightmare of Being” (2021) and represents a significant moment in the band’s history. “The Ghost of a Future Dead” stands as a tribute to vocalist Tomas Lindberg, who passed away in September 2025.
As previously reported, At The Gates and the Final Legacy of Tomas Lindberg: The Story Behind “The Ghost of a Future Dead”, the album represents a defining moment in the band’s history.
According to the band, the album was completed prior to his passing, with Tomas Lindberg closely involved in shaping every aspect of the release, including its title, sound, track order and overall presentation.
“This album is Tomas’ legacy.”
Recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, the album continues the band’s tradition of combining aggression with melodic precision, while reinforcing its place within the evolution of melodic death metal.
In 2021, Gino Alache spoke with Tomas Lindberg about the band’s direction and creative process, as documented in a Rockum interview.
