The Albuquerque-based band introduce their third EP, shaped by resilience, independent production and a growing presence across the U.S. metal scene
Albuquerque-based metal act Project BC present “The Third”, a new EP that continues the band’s development within the emerging space of Indigenous metal, combining heavy instrumentation with themes rooted in resilience and personal experience.
The release reflects a period shaped by both creative growth and external challenges, including the impact of the global pandemic and personal setbacks that influenced the band’s trajectory. Rather than interrupting their momentum, those factors became part of the foundation behind the material.
Musically, “The Third” brings together aggressive riffs, melodic elements and a direct lyrical approach. Tracks such as “God of Everything” highlight that balance, positioning the EP within a space that draws comparisons to bands like Avatar, Lacuna Coil and Lamb of God, while maintaining its own identity.
The EP was produced independently by Project BC and engineered, mixed and mastered by Santino Billie, reinforcing the band’s hands-on approach to their sound and creative direction.
Frontwoman Masheyti Romero reflected on the meaning behind the release:
“Every time we were forced to stop, we came back stronger. This record is the sound of our return — focused and direct.”
The project builds on earlier releases, including the EP “Black” (2023), which expanded the band’s reach through radio support across regional stations. Over time, Project BC have developed a live presence that includes performances across multiple states and appearances alongside bands such as In Flames and Havok.
Beyond their recording work, the band have also contributed to their local scene through initiatives such as the Cat-alyst Music Festival, supporting emerging artists from New Mexico and Indigenous communities.
With “The Third”, Project BC present a release shaped by persistence and identity, positioning their work within a growing movement that connects heavy music with cultural and personal narrative.
