The Long Island trio introduce the final advance single from their upcoming album, set for release on May 8 via Magnetic Eye Records
Long Island heavy metal trio Restless Spirit present “Desolation’s Wake”, the final advance single from their upcoming self-titled album “Restless Spirit”, scheduled for release on May 8, 2026 via Magnetic Eye Records.
The track highlights a more direct and energetic side of the band’s sound, described by vocalist and guitarist Paul Aloisio as one of the fastest compositions on the record.
“This track is pure energy and fury… one of my favorite choruses that we've ever written.”
Despite its intensity, the band noted that the song presented unexpected challenges during its development, reflecting the evolving nature of their songwriting process.
The upcoming album represents a point of clarity for Restless Spirit, where the trio consolidate their identity through a more focused and distilled approach. Rather than expanding outward, “Restless Spirit” refines the band’s sound to its core elements.
Rooted in traditional heavy metal, the band’s style draws from the legacy of Black Sabbath while incorporating elements of stoner, doom and progressive metal, creating a balance between classic structure and modern interpretation.
Lyrically, the album centers on themes of perseverance, resilience and the process of rebuilding after personal and emotional setbacks, positioning the record as a continuation of the direction established on “Afterimage” (2024), which explored darker and more introspective territory.
Formed from a long-standing friendship between Paul Aloisio and bassist Marc Morello, Restless Spirit have developed a sound shaped by both personal history and a commitment to evolving with each release. Since their debut “Lord of the New Depression” (2019), the band has progressively refined their approach across subsequent albums, leading to a more concise and defined musical identity.
