The American progressive metal pioneers return with their first studio album in 26 years, set for release on April 17 via BraveWords Records
American progressive metal band Crimson Glory present “Beyond The Unknown”, a new track taken from their upcoming album “Chasing The Hydra”, marking the band’s first full-length studio release in more than two decades.
Scheduled for release on April 17, 2026 via BraveWords Records, the album represents a significant return for a band that helped define the early American progressive metal movement.
The new track explores philosophical themes centered on uncertainty, existence and the limits of human understanding, reflecting on the idea that not all questions require answers.
“There will always be things we don’t know, and may never know… beyond the unknown.”
Rather than attempting to redefine their sound, Crimson Glory build on the foundation established during their early years, reinforcing the elements that positioned them alongside bands such as Queensrÿche, Fates Warning and Dream Theater within the genre’s development.
Formed in 1983 in Sarasota, Florida, the band rose to prominence with their classic lineup featuring Midnight, Jon Drenning, Ben Jackson, Jeff Lords and Dana Burnell, becoming one of the key acts in shaping the identity of progressive metal during the 1980s.
The upcoming album introduces a renewed lineup, with founding members Ben Jackson, Jeff Lords and Dana Burnell joined by vocalist Travis Wills and guitarist Mark Borgmeyer, continuing the band’s legacy while expanding its current direction.
