The emerging California band channel isolation and emotional release in a track that reflects their growing identity within the metalcore and nu-metal landscape
Sacramento-based duo Dont You Dare continue to develop their identity with the release of their new single “I Love The Misery”, accompanied by an official video that reflects the emotional intensity at the core of their sound.
Formed by vocalist Noah Duarte and guitarist Matt English, the project blends elements of nu-metal and metalcore, combining aggressive instrumentation with themes rooted in personal struggle and introspection.
Described by the band as their darkest material to date, “I Love The Misery” explores concepts of isolation and self-destruction, while also pointing toward a process of release and recovery.
According to Duarte, the track represents a deeply personal experience:
“This song helped me heal… it allows me to let go and release those demons.”
The song’s structure and intensity reinforce that narrative, moving between tension and catharsis while maintaining the band’s signature emotional directness.
Prior to “I Love The Misery”, Dont You Dare established their presence through a series of early releases, including “S.O.S.”, “BLACK & BLUE”, and “DIE4ME”, the latter earning the band their first exposure on SiriusXM Octane Test Drive.
Each release has contributed to a steady increase in streaming numbers and audience engagement, positioning the band within a growing wave of modern heavy music acts.
Emerging from Sacramento, Dont You Dare developed their sound through a combination of underground influences and personal expression, drawing from both the raw aggression of metalcore and the emotional weight of alternative rock.
Their approach reflects a balance between confrontation and vulnerability, aiming to connect with listeners through themes that extend beyond genre boundaries.
The band’s trajectory also intersects with the legacy of The Artery Foundation, a company that played a significant role in shaping the metalcore scene during the 2010s.
Through its label and management operations, Artery contributed to the rise of acts such as A Day To Remember, Motionless In White, Asking Alexandria, Beartooth, and The Devil Wears Prada, among others.
Following its relaunch in 2025, the organization continues to operate across artist development, management, and production, maintaining its presence within the heavy music industry.
