The collaboration between the Godsmack and Extreme musicians highlights Morrison’s upcoming album, featuring a lineup of major rock names
British guitarist, singer, and songwriter Billy Morrison continues to expand his solo work with the release of the video for “Becoming”, a collaboration featuring Sully Erna (Godsmack) on vocals and Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) on lead guitar.
The track serves as the first single from Morrison’s upcoming album “Hollow”, scheduled for release in August 2026 via TLG | ZOID / Virgin Music Group.
The video for “Becoming” was filmed in Los Angeles across two contrasting environments: a rain-filled enclosed space and an industrial warehouse setting.
Morrison described the shoot as physically demanding:
“We filmed for hours through a sheet of water… it was hot, humid and intense.”
Visually, the concept reflects the song’s central theme of transformation, using distortion techniques and progressive focus to mirror the lyrical evolution.
Written by Billy Morrison, Sully Erna, and Brett Scallions, the track explores themes of personal transformation and overcoming destructive patterns.
According to Morrison, the song represents:
“transforming out of darkness and becoming a strong, positive force.”
Musically, the collaboration blends Morrison’s structured songwriting with Erna’s distinctive vocal tone and Bettencourt’s expressive guitar work.
“Hollow” follows the success of “The Morrison Project” (2024), which included the #1 Active Rock track “Crack Cocaine”, featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Steve Stevens.
The upcoming album continues that collaborative format, featuring a wide range of artists, including:
Dexter Holland
Marilyn Manson
Chuck D
B Real
Duff McKagan
Steve Stevens
DMC
Alongside Sully Erna and Nuno Bettencourt, these collaborations position the album as a multi-dimensional rock project.
Beyond his solo work, Billy Morrison is widely known for his role as rhythm guitarist for Billy Idol, a position he has held for more than 17 years.
He has also been part of The Cult and Circus Diablo, while continuing to explore visual art and broadcasting through his SiriusXM show “Influenced”.
Through “Becoming” and the upcoming release of “Hollow”, Billy Morrison continues to build a collaborative platform that brings together established voices from across rock and metal, shaping a project defined by both identity and creative exchange.
