Evergrey Release 'The World Is On Fire' and Introduce Stephen Platt Ahead of New Album and Iron Maiden Tour

Swedish progressive metal band Evergrey continue their current release cycle with “The World Is On Fire”, a new single accompanied by an official video, taken from their upcoming album “Architects Of A New Weave”, scheduled for release on June 5 via Napalm Records.

The track blends cinematic melodies with heavy, precise riffing, maintaining the band’s established identity while expanding its emotional and atmospheric scope. Vocally, the performance carries a strong sense of urgency and introspection, aligning with the album’s broader thematic direction.

The release also marks the official addition of Stephen Platt (Scar Symmetry) as a full-time guitarist, following his involvement as a touring member during 2025.

The band commented:

“We’ve played many shows together already… we couldn’t be happier to have him join us.”

Platt added:

“I’ve been a fan of the band for a long time… I’m extremely honored to be part of it.”

Frontman Tom S. Englund described “The World Is On Fire” as a reflection of both personal and global tension:

“This isn’t just a lament — it’s a defiant stand against chaos, fear, and silence.”

The track positions emotional struggle within a wider social context, merging introspective writing with broader commentary.

The upcoming album continues Evergrey’s trajectory following “Theories of Emptiness” (2024), presenting a body of work built around transformation, resilience, and identity.

Produced by Tom S. Englund and Vikram Shankar, and mixed by Adam “Nolly” Getgood, the album maintains a balance between progressive structure and melodic accessibility.

The record also features a collaboration with Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity) on “A Burning Flame”, reinforcing its connection to the Gothenburg metal lineage.
