The Portland post-doom collective will release their new full-length May 22 following lineup changes and renewed direction
Portland-based post-doom metal collective Burial Clouds will release their new full-length album “Burn Holy” on May 22, alongside the unveiling of the first single and video “Be Not Afraid”.
“Be Not Afraid” introduces the album’s direction through themes centered on fear, resistance, and emotional tension.
According to guitarist Matt Mitchell, the track reflects the consequences of how fear and awe can be shaped or manipulated, expressed through the dynamics and structure of the music.
“Burn Holy” follows the band’s debut “Last Days Of A Dying World” (2023) and represents a continuation of their development after a period of touring and lineup changes.
The album was written over the course of approximately one year, beginning shortly after the release of the previous record, with a process that varied from track to track, including iterative writing, rearrangement, and refinement.
It was written, recorded, engineered, and mixed by the band, and later mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.
