The reissue follows the band’s Roadburn Festival performance and revisits their 2016 album with updated mastering and presentation
Belgian band Oathbreaker will release “Rheia (Redux)”, a remastered and redesigned version of their 2016 album, on May 29, 2026 via Deathwish Inc.
The release arrives ten years after the original album and follows the band’s performance at Roadburn Festival, where the material was revisited in a live setting.
“Rheia (Redux)” presents a new remaster of the band’s 2016 album, originally produced by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta).
The record marked a turning point in the band’s evolution, expanding beyond conventional structures associated with heavy music.
The original instrumentation was recorded on two-inch tape in a largely live environment, contributing to the album’s organic sound.
Vocals by Caro Tanghe were captured in single takes, reinforcing the immediacy and intensity present throughout the record.
The album opens with “10:56”, establishing a restrained atmosphere before transitioning into “Second Son of R.”, where melodic passages shift into more aggressive sections.
“Being Able To Feel Nothing” develops through dynamic changes, while “Stay Here / Accroche-Moi” introduces a more minimal arrangement ahead of “Needles In Your Skin,” positioned as a central piece within the album.
The second half expands in scope through tracks such as “Immortals”, leading into the sequence of “I’m Sorry, This Is,” “Where I Live,” and “Where I Leave.”
The album concludes with “Begeerte”, closing the record with a gradual and atmospheric resolution.
