Devin Townsend has released the video for “Home At Night”, the second single taken from his upcoming album “The Moth”, set for release on May 29, 2026 via InsideOutMusic.
The track follows the previously released “Enter The City” and offers a different perspective on the album’s broader concept.
“Home At Night” presents a more delicate side of “The Moth”, while maintaining the expansive orchestral scope of the project.
According to Devin Townsend, the song was one of the earliest pieces written for the album and reflects the experience of being away from home while raising a young family.
Within the narrative of the album, the track is performed from the perspective of an antagonist preparing to leave for battle.
The video was produced by longtime collaborator Mike Zimmer.
“The Moth” is an orchestral-metal project developed over more than a decade, described by Devin Townsend as a central creative vision, as previously reported by Rockum in Devin Townsend Announces the Orchestral Metal Project ‘The Moth,’ A Concept More Than a Decade in the Making.
The project began to take form following an acoustic performance in Amsterdam, when Townsend was approached by the head of the North Netherlands Orchestra and Choir, leading to the realization of the album.
The record explores themes of transformation, identity, and self-acceptance, using the metaphor of a moth evolving and being drawn toward light.
“The Moth” is divided into three distinct parts:
The Moth — the main studio album
The Moth – The Afterlife — orchestral and choir-focused reinterpretation
The Moth – The War — live recording from the March 2025 debut performance in The Netherlands
