Italian post-rock act expand their atmospheric sound on fifth studio album shaped by isolation, emotion, and sonic evolution
Klimt 1918 have premiered the video for “Aventine”, the latest single taken from their forthcoming album “Àmor”, scheduled for release on June 12, 2026 via Prophecy Productions.
“Aventine” presents a more introspective and atmospheric side of the Roman outfit, emphasizing cinematic textures and emotional depth within their evolving sound.
Frontman Marco Soellner describes the track as a visual and emotional experience:
“If ‘Aventine’ were a color, it would be a shade of cobalt… It is a solitary gaze from the top of a hill. It is the city below, sleeping silently and obliviously.”
“Àmor” marks the band’s fifth studio album and represents a continuation of their artistic evolution beyond their early metal foundations.
The record was developed during a period defined by silence, solitude, and social distancing, while conceptually focusing on carnality, physical connection, and emotional intensity.
Musically, the album further expands the band’s shift toward darkwave, alternative rock, and post-rock, moving away from their earlier avant-garde metal influences.
The album was mixed by Tony Doogan and mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios, both known for their work with artists such as Mogwai, Joy Division, Coldplay, and Oasis.
This production approach reinforces the album’s layered, atmospheric sound and dynamic range.
Formed in 1999, Klimt 1918 emerged from the ashes of a metal band, drawing inspiration from acts such as Bauhaus, The Cure, and Joy Division.
Their discography includes:
“Undressed Momento” (2003)
“Dopoguerra” (2005)
“Just In Case We’ll Never Meet Again (Soundtrack for the Cassette Generation)” (2008)
“Sentimentale Jugend” (2016)
After nearly a decade since their last studio release, “Àmor” represents a new chapter shaped by extended songwriting and artistic refinement.
