DIMMU BORGIR Release 'Ascent' Video from 'Grand Serpent Rising' Album via Nuclear Blast

DIMMU BORGIR have released the official video for “Ascent”, taken from their upcoming studio album “Grand Serpent Rising”, set for release via Nuclear Blast Records.

The track follows earlier material from the album, as previously reported by Rockum in Dimmu Borgir Share ‘Ulvgjeld & Blodsodel’ Video and Reveal ‘Grand Serpent Rising’ Album, continuing the band’s current release cycle.
“Ascent” presents a more direct and aggressive approach, emphasizing the band’s signature combination of symphonic elements and extreme metal intensity.

According to the band, the track reflects a darker and more forceful side of the album, highlighting the range between compositions within the record .

Lyrically, the song explores themes of transformation and inner evolution, framed through symbolic imagery connected to ascension and confrontation.

“Grand Serpent Rising” marks the band’s return with new material, recorded in Gothenburg in collaboration with producer Fredrik Nordström .

The album builds on the band’s established sound while expanding into a more intense and atmospheric direction, combining orchestral arrangements with extreme metal structures.

The recording process reunites DIMMU BORGIR with a producer associated with earlier releases such as:
