The fifth solo album by the Firewind guitarist arrives via Metal Department, featuring collaborations with Doro, Ronnie Romero, and Dino Jelusick
GUS G. has released his fifth solo album “Steel Burner”, now available via Metal Department, marking his first solo release in five years.
The album arrives alongside a new single and video for “Dancing With Death”, featuring Matt Barlow (ex-Iced Earth, Ashes Of Ares).
“Steel Burner” continues GUS G.’s solo work with a combination of instrumental compositions and vocal-driven tracks, expanding his established guitar-centered approach through collaborations with multiple guest vocalists.
The album’s concept originated from its title track, which was initially commissioned for an industrial manufacturer. The experience of composing around that concept influenced the direction of the full record, shaping both its title and overall identity.
Following a period of touring activity, the release reflects a renewed focus on songwriting and production, maintaining the balance between technical precision and melodic structure that defines his work.
“Dancing With Death”, featuring Matt Barlow, addresses the theme of addiction through a power metal framework shaped by both classic and contemporary elements.
The track stands among the vocal highlights of the album, alongside other collaborations that contribute to the record’s range and structure.
The album includes a series of guest appearances that define its vocal dimension, including Doro Pesch on “Nothing Can Break Me”, Dino Jelusick on “No One Has To Know”, and Ronnie Romero across multiple tracks, following recent touring collaborations between the artists.
