The Dutch four-piece present the final single before their second album, recorded live to tape and set for digital and vinyl release in May
Real Farmer have released their new single and video “9 Till Not Alright”, marking the final preview ahead of their second studio album “Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right”.
The release follows earlier material from the record, as previously reported by Rockum in Real Farmer Release ‘I.D.K.T.S’ Video Ahead of ‘Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right’ Album and European Tour, continuing the band’s rollout leading into the album.
Based in Groningen, Real Farmer operate as a four-piece drawing from the independent rock traditions of the northern Dutch provinces of Friesland and Groningen, regions historically associated with direct and uncompromising forms of guitar-driven music.
“9 Till Not Alright” is presented alongside a video in which the band adopts a visual concept centered on corporate imagery, replacing their usual presentation with suits to frame the song’s thematic direction.
According to vocalist Jeroen Klootsema, the track addresses economic imbalance and systemic inequality, referencing subjects such as financial speculation, labor exploitation, and environmental impact. The narrative focuses on the relationship between labor and profit, highlighting how wealth accumulation depends on structures sustained by others.
“Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right” is scheduled for release digitally on May 1, with physical editions arriving on May 15.
The album was recorded live to tape with audio engineer Niek van den Driesschen at Far Out Sound Studios in Rotterdam’s Coolhaven district. It was mastered by Mikey Young, whose previous work includes collaborations with Amyl and the Sniffers and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.
The album rollout has included multiple singles presenting different aspects of the band’s sound.
“I.D.K.T.S. (I Don’t Know This Song)” received radio exposure on BBC 6 Music through Huw Stephens. Tracks such as “Missing Link” and “Heart Out” emphasize the band’s more direct and high-intensity approach, while “Run By Animals” features bassist Marrit Meinema on lead vocals, introducing a contrasting direction within the material.
In the period leading up to the album release, Real Farmer have performed across multiple venues and events, including appearances connected to artists such as Peter Doherty, Protomartyr, and Babyshambles, as well as festival slots including Pitchfork Paris and Primavera.
Radio support for the singles has included airplay from BBC 6 Music presenters Huw Stephens, Craig Charles, and Steve Lamacq, along with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1.
