The Swedish heavy metal veterans continue building momentum around their first studio album in 17 years ahead of Sweden Rock Festival
Lion’s Share have unveiled a new performance video for “We Are What We Are” while celebrating the song surpassing one million streams on Spotify.
The track appears on the band’s comeback album “Inferno”, released earlier this year through Metalville, marking the group’s first full-length studio album in seventeen years.
According to vocalist Nils Patrik Johansson, the lyrics for “We Are What We Are” focus on rejecting distractions, negativity, and outside pressures while remaining committed to heavy metal culture and identity.
Musically, the track reflects the traditional heavy metal foundations running throughout “Inferno”, combining melodic hooks, classic riff-driven songwriting, and anthemic choruses inspired by the genre’s classic era.
The new performance video was filmed inside an abandoned industrial structure and directed by Tom Wouda, who also worked on the band’s previous video for “Pentagram.”
Guitarist Lars Chriss humorously noted that part of the filming location reportedly collapsed shortly after production ended.
Released on March 27, 2026, “Inferno” has become one of the band’s most acclaimed releases, earning strong reactions from both fans and media.
The album reportedly spent eight consecutive weeks on the US Metal Radio Charts and additionally received a perfect 10/10 review from Powerplay Magazine.
Across the album, Lion’s Share reconnect with the darker and more melodic heavy metal approach that originally established the band within the European metal scene during the late 1980s and 1990s.

Formed in Sundsvall, Sweden in 1987, Lion’s Share became part of the European heavy metal scene through albums combining classic melodic heavy metal, darker atmospheres, and powerful vocal-driven songwriting.
Throughout their career, the band shared stages with artists including Motörhead, Dio, Saxon, Manowar, U.D.O., Iced Earth, and Nevermore.
With “Inferno” and the continued response to “We Are What We Are,” Lion’s Share reinforce the enduring appeal of traditional riff-driven heavy metal while reconnecting longtime fans with one of Sweden’s longstanding melodic metal acts.
