The German power metal veterans return with a heavier and more aggressive direction combining classic heavy metal, thrash, and melodic power metal elements
StormHammer have unveiled the new single and official music video “Wrath Of The Hammer”, the title track from the band’s upcoming studio album scheduled for release on July 17, 2026 through ROAR – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music.
The release marks the beginning of a new chapter for the German power metal band following the acclaimed album “Seven Seals.”
With “Wrath Of The Hammer,” StormHammer continue expanding their traditional power metal foundations through a heavier and more aggressive approach rooted in classic heavy metal and thrash influences.
Guitarist Phil Meyer described the track as a strong representation of the album’s direction, combining aggressive riff-driven energy, fast heavy metal rhythms, and epic melodic passages rooted in both classic and modern metal traditions.
Drummer Ashley Guest additionally described the material as maintaining the spirit of classic StormHammer while pushing the sound toward a sharper and more modern edge.
Rather than limiting themselves to straightforward melodic power metal, StormHammer push the material into heavier territory throughout the album, blending aggressive thrash-driven guitar work, epic traditional heavy metal atmospheres, and darker modern textures while still preserving the melodic identity that has defined the band for years. while remaining connected to the band’s longstanding European power metal identity.
Recorded at Mastersound Studio with producer Alexander Krull, the album balances heavier dynamics, atmospheric arrangements, and modern production clarity while maintaining the raw energy and melodic identity that have defined StormHammer throughout their career.
Vocalist M.Nox explained that the band intentionally avoided “playing it safe” during the writing process, instead pursuing a more adventurous and stylistically broader direction.
Bassist Horst Tessmann described the sessions as a natural blend of traditional power metal and thrash metal energy.
