The Swedish melodic metal band expands its futuristic science-fiction storyline with a new album set in 2058, arriving September 25 via Perception / Reigning Phoenix Music
METALITE have unveiled full details of their upcoming studio album “Discovery” and released the new single “In Case Of Emergency”, offering another preview of the band's next chapter ahead of the album's release on September 25, 2026 through Perception – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music.
The new release follows the previously issued singles “Our Time Has Come” and “Starchild”, continuing the narrative and musical direction that has become a defining characteristic of the Swedish melodic metal group.
Rockum previously covered the album's earlier developments in Metalite Present 'Starchild' Video and Expand 'Discovery' Album Concept.
Driven by heavy guitar rhythms, layered synthesizers, and the vocals of Erica Ohlsson, “In Case Of Emergency” continues the band's blend of melodic metal and futuristic electronic textures.
According to guitarist, producer, songwriter, and founder Edwin Premberg, the song combines musical intensity with a message centered on loyalty, support, and remaining present for others regardless of circumstances. While the track features some of the album's heavier guitar work, it also maintains the melodic approach that has characterized the band's recent releases.
Mixed and mastered by Danish producer Jacob Hansen, whose credits include work with Volbeat, Evergrey, and Amaranthe, “Discovery” continues the science-fiction narrative Metalite has gradually developed across multiple albums.
The story is set in the year 2058, three years after humanity abandoned a collapsing Earth in search of survival elsewhere. Against that backdrop, the album explores themes of technological advancement, human evolution, digital realities, hope, survival, and the search for a new future.
Rather than functioning as a standalone concept, “Discovery” expands the fictional universe established through previous albums including “Heroes In Time” (2017), “Biomechanicals” (2019), “A Virtual World” (2021), and “Expedition One” (2024), creating another chapter in the band's ongoing narrative.

THE EVOLUTION OF METALITE
Founded in 2015 by guitarist Edwin Premberg, Metalite quickly established a distinctive identity by combining melodic metal with science-fiction themes and electronic elements.
The arrival of vocalist Erica Ohlsson in 2019 marked a significant turning point for the group, helping shape the sound heard on albums such as “Biomechanicals”, “A Virtual World”, and “Expedition One.”
In 2024, drummer Erik Junttila Johansson joined the lineup and subsequently made his live debut with the band in Linköping during early 2025. Since then, Metalite have continued touring across Europe alongside acts including Pain, Leaves' Eyes, and The Night Flight Orchestra, while also appearing at festivals such as Sweden Rock Festival and Masters Of Rock.

Over the last decade, Metalite have carved out a distinctive place within modern melodic metal through a combination of futuristic concepts, electronic textures, and accessible songwriting. While many bands in the genre continue to draw heavily from fantasy themes, Metalite have increasingly built their identity around science-fiction narratives that connect each album to a larger fictional universe.
With “Discovery,” Metalite continue expanding the futuristic storyline that has connected much of their catalog since 2017. Through “In Case Of Emergency,” the band offers another glimpse into that evolving universe while preparing for the release of a record that further develops the themes and concepts introduced across their previous albums.
