German symphonic metal veterans unveil the second single from ‘Eclipse,’ a new studio album arriving August 7 via Napalm Records
XANDRIA have released their new single and official music video for “Colours”, offering a second look at the band's upcoming studio album “Eclipse”, scheduled for release on August 7, 2026 through Napalm Records. The song follows the previously released singles “The Shannon's Home” and “Colours”, continuing the musical and thematic direction of the band's upcoming album.
Rockum previously covered the first chapter of the album campaign in Xandria Announce 'Eclipse' and Release 'The Shannon's Home' Ahead of 2026 European Tour, which introduced the album and the band's return following the success of “The Wonders Still Awaiting”.
Arriving during the band's thirtieth anniversary period, “Eclipse” follows “The Wonders Still Awaiting” (2023), which became the most successful album in Xandria's history after reaching the Top 10 of the German album charts. The new release continues the creative era established by the current lineup while exploring a broader range of musical influences and arrangements.
“Colours” places a strong emphasis on orchestral arrangements, choir sections, and the versatile vocal performance of Ambre Vourvahis. Throughout the song, she moves between harsh vocals, melodic passages, and operatic techniques, reflecting the stylistic variety that characterizes much of the upcoming album.
According to founder and songwriter Marco Heubaum, the track represents another glimpse into the many different dimensions explored throughout “Eclipse,” an album built around contrasting moods, perspectives, and musical approaches. He noted that diversity itself became one of the central ideas behind the project, influencing both its lyrical and musical identity.
Written and composed by Marco Heubaum, “Eclipse” presents eleven new songs that move through a wide range of influences while remaining connected by a common conceptual framework.
Throughout the album, traditional heavy metal, cinematic orchestration, folk-inspired elements, electronic textures, and progressive arrangements coexist within a unified sound. The result reflects Heubaum's long-standing interest in film music and storytelling, drawing inspiration from composers such as Hans Zimmer and John Williams.
Lyrically, the album takes a more direct approach than its predecessor, focusing on contemporary social and cultural themes while maintaining the atmospheric and cinematic qualities that have become part of Xandria's identity.
Several musicians and collaborators contribute throughout the album.
Ally Storch of Subway To Sally appears on “Lore,” while longtime collaborator McAlbi contributes Celtic whistles on multiple tracks, including “The Shannon's Home,” “Northstar,” “Masquerade,” and “Lore.”
“The Last Generation” features a children's choir alongside piano performed by Richard Z. Wang, known for his work within Hans Zimmer's creative circle. The album also includes orchestral performances by the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir, whose previous work includes film and television productions such as His Dark Materials.
Orchestral arrangements were created by film composers Lukas Geppert and Ishaan Tyagi, both of whom have contributed to major international film productions.

Founded in Germany during the 1990s, Xandria became one of the most recognizable names in European symphonic metal through a catalog that has evolved across multiple lineups and musical eras. Over three decades, the band has incorporated orchestral music, gothic influences, cinematic arrangements, and melodic metal into a body of work that continues to develop while remaining connected to its symphonic roots.
With “Colours,” Xandria provide another introduction to the musical world of “Eclipse”, a record that expands the band's established sound through orchestral arrangements, varied vocal approaches, and cinematic songwriting. As the group approaches its thirtieth anniversary, the album represents another chapter in one of Germany's longest-running symphonic metal careers.
