The Sirenia mastermind and Tristania founder continues The Cover Collab Sessions with the ninth Mortemia collaboration, featuring a Hammond B3 performance by Amberian Dawn's Tuomas Seppälä
MORTEMIA, the solo project of Morten Veland, known for his work with Sirenia and as the founder of Tristania, has released the ninth song from "The Cover Collab Sessions", a collection of twelve cover songs featuring a different guest vocalist on each recording.
The latest entry is "I Put a Spell on You", featuring guest vocals by Minniva. The song is based on the version recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1968 and also includes a Hammond B3 solo performed by Tuomas Seppälä of Amberian Dawn.
The song was made available on digital platforms on June 5, 2026, becoming the ninth release issued from "The Cover Collab Sessions".
Rockum previously covered Mortemia's interpretation of "Take on Me" featuring Marcela Bovio in Morten Veland's Mortemia Present 'Take on Me' Featuring Marcela Bovio from 'The Cover Collab Sessions', one of the earlier releases from the current cover-song project.
The release also follows Morten Veland's Mortemia Release 'Send Me An Angel' Video Featuring Lyriel's Jessica Thierjung, which continued the collaboration format that has become central to the project's output in recent years.
Before launching "The Cover Collab Sessions", Veland revived Mortemia after an eleven-year hiatus during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. The return introduced a new creative direction centered around guest vocalists from across the international metal scene.
The first chapter of that concept became "The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions", a monthly single series that paired Veland with a different singer on each release. The concept later expanded through "The Covid Aftermath Sessions", another collection built around twelve songs and twelve guest vocalists.
Rockum also covered Mortemia's collaboration with Linda Toni Grahn in Mortemia Release New Song and Video Featuring Linda Toni Grahn of Anima Veil and ex Follow The Cipher, documenting another chapter in the project's ongoing series of collaborations.
Through these releases, Morten Veland has assembled a growing roster of guest vocalists representing bands from the symphonic metal, gothic metal, melodic metal and power metal scenes.
