The New York hardcore veterans preview their tenth studio album through Nuclear Blast Records as Freddy Cricien, Mike Gurnari, Mike Justian and Paul Delaney prepare for worldwide touring across Europe, Canada, Mexico and the United States
MADBALL have released "Tethered", the second single from their upcoming tenth studio album "Not Your Kingdom", scheduled for release on July 24, 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Rockum previously covered the album announcement in Madball Announce 'Not Your Kingdom' Album and Release 'Rebel Kids' Video, which introduced the record and its first preview track.
The new song follows the album's first single and provides another look at a record that continues the band's long-running connection to New York hardcore while introducing material written during the latest chapter of the group's career.
For more than three decades, Madball have remained one of the defining names of the New York hardcore scene, building a catalogue that has connected multiple generations of listeners through a combination of aggressive songwriting, street-level perspective and relentless touring activity.
"Tethered" serves as the opening track on "Not Your Kingdom" despite being one of the last songs completed during the writing process.
According to vocalist Freddy Cricien, the song reflects on personal experiences and the events that helped shape his life and identity. The lyrics revisit moments from both the past and present while examining the connection between personal history and individual growth.
Musically, the track returns to the groove-oriented style associated with classic New York hardcore while continuing the band's modern approach to songwriting.
The release is accompanied by an official music video directed by Freddy Cricien and filmed by Dave Causa.
Shot in New York City, the video reflects the environment where the band first emerged and serves as a visual connection to the city's long-standing hardcore tradition.
According to information released by the band, "Not Your Kingdom" combines themes associated with Madball's history while also exploring more personal and introspective subject matter.
The album was recorded at The Boneyard Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, with additional interludes tracked by Jeff "Stress" Davis and Chuck Treece at Chop Shop Studios.
Production and engineering duties were handled by:

The album was mixed and mastered by Lee Rouse.

The release of "Not Your Kingdom" marks the band's tenth studio album and arrives as another chapter in a catalogue that stretches back to the late 1980s.
