BLACK SPIKES have released the official music video for "Motina", the third single from their upcoming album "Ydos", scheduled for release on August 28, 2026 via Napalm Records.

The song expands the conceptual narrative that runs throughout the album and serves as a key part of the story introduced by the Lithuanian progressive metal band on their Napalm Records debut.

Rockum previously covered the album announcement in Black Spikes Announce 'Ydos' Album After Signing with Napalm Records and Share 'Aurea', which introduced the album's central concept and the first music released from the project.

The band later continued unveiling the record through Black Spikes Release 'Revana' Video Ahead of 'Ydos' Album, further expanding the narrative explored throughout the upcoming release.

"Motina", which translates as "Mother", serves as the starting point of the album's storyline.

According to the band, the song tells the story of the birth of the vices that appear throughout "Ydos". Within the album's narrative, these entities emerge in a pure world before gradually influencing humanity and shaping human choices and destinies.

Musically, the song combines contrasting elements that have become part of the band's identity, moving between melodic passages, harsh vocals, blast beats and progressive metal arrangements.

The track also highlights the group's approach to balancing atmosphere and aggression, shifting from lullaby-like sections into heavier and more intense moments.

"Ydos" is a concept album built around the idea of human flaws and vices.

According to the band, each song represents a different vice, with individual names, stories and identities woven into a larger narrative. Several of these concepts are being expanded through accompanying music videos that visually bring the album's characters to life.

The album represents the band's second full-length release and their first through Napalm Records.

The story begins with "Pasaka", which translates as "Fairy Tale", setting the atmosphere for the album's narrative.

From there, each song explores a different aspect of human behavior through characters and symbolic figures connected to concepts such as lies, curiosity, greed, revenge, apathy and pride.

Several tracks incorporate additional stylistic elements beyond progressive metal, including electronic music, rap influences and cinematic arrangements, while maintaining the band's modern metal foundation.

According to the band, the concept of "Ydos" guided the songwriting process from the beginning and served as the framework for the entire album.

Originating from Lithuania, Black Spikes have emerged as part of a newer generation of European progressive metal bands combining modern production techniques, conceptual storytelling and diverse musical influences.

The release of "Ydos" follows the band's recognition at Lithuania's M.A.M.A. Music Awards and marks their first full album campaign in partnership with Napalm Records.

Through the successive releases of "Aurea", "Revana" and now "Motina", the group continues revealing different aspects of the album's overarching narrative ahead of its release.

Through "Motina", Black Spikes further develop the conceptual framework of "Ydos", introducing the origin of the album's central characters while expanding the progressive metal approach that defines the band's first release for Napalm Records.
