BMG and Rhino Entertainment will release a limited zoetrope vinyl edition of Ratt's 1986 album Dancing Undercover on July 31
RATT have announced a new 40th anniversary edition of their third studio album, Dancing Undercover, scheduled for release on July 31 through a collaboration between BMG and Rhino Entertainment.
The release will be available as a limited edition gatefold LP featuring newly reimagined artwork and a zoetrope vinyl presentation. The record will include animated imagery of the band's logo and members when viewed while spinning under the appropriate conditions.
Originally released in 1986, Dancing Undercover followed the commercial success of Out Of The Cellar (1984) and Invasion Of Your Privacy (1985), continuing a period that established Ratt among the leading hard rock bands of the decade.
According to vocalist and founding member Stephen Pearcy, the goal during the writing and recording process was to create a heavier and more direct album that reflected some of the energy found on the band's earlier material.
At the time of its original release, Dancing Undercover arrived while Ratt was touring North America. The album featured the singles "Dance" and "Slip Of The Lip", while "Body Talk" later appeared in the 1986 film The Golden Child starring Eddie Murphy.
The album became the band's third consecutive platinum-certified release and reached No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Dancing Undercover featured the classic Ratt lineup of Stephen Pearcy (vocals), Warren DeMartini (guitar), Robbin Crosby (guitar), Juan Croucier (bass, vocals), and Bobby Blotzer (drums).

Four decades after its original release, Dancing Undercover returns in a new vinyl edition that revisits an album recorded during one of the most commercially successful periods in Ratt's history.
