New remix transforms the closing track from The Painful Truth while the band continues its UK and European summer tour
SKUNK ANANSIE have released a new remix of "Meltdown", the closing track from their album The Painful Truth, available through FLG.
The new version, titled "Meltdown (Blackhill Remix)", was created by producer Nick Sheldon (Blackhill) and reimagines the original recording with an up-tempo arrangement while retaining the lyrical themes of the song.
Discussing the remix, vocalist Skin explained:
"Meltdown is this deeply heartbreaking song about isolation. It's one of the few SKUNK songs that doesn't have a beat making it a perfect end to the album. We wanted to do a version that grooved a bit so we called up our friend Nick Sheldon [Blackhill] to add that flavor and we love what he's done, hope you do too."
Originally released on The Painful Truth, "Meltdown" appeared as the closing track of the album. The remix was released on Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
The album cycle began in early 2025 with the release of "An Artist Is An Artist", one of the first songs unveiled from the project. According to the band, the new version transforms the original piano-based arrangement into a more rhythm-driven interpretation while maintaining the song's emotional core.
The remix arrives as Skunk Anansie continue touring in support of The Painful Truth, which was released in 2025 and became one of the band's most recent studio projects.
To mark the first anniversary of the album, the band has also announced a limited-edition zoetrope vinyl edition of The Painful Truth, scheduled for release on October 9 through FLG.
