Sophomore album features collaborations with mgk, JaYy Wick and Damien Styles as the artist prepares for an international tour
honestav has released his second studio album, Sweet American Boy, available now through Rebel Music/gamma.
The 16-track release arrives alongside a music video for "Know Better", one of the songs featured on the album.
According to honestav, Sweet American Boy reflects a period of personal and artistic transition, exploring the contrast between his past experiences and the realities of a rapidly changing career.
Discussing the album, honestav said:
"When everything started blowing up, I felt like I was constantly playing catch-up with my own reality. This album is me finally stopping to look in the mirror and deal with the fallout. It's about the friction between who I used to be and the person I'm becoming."
A central track on the album is "Know Better", an acoustic-based song that addresses uncertainty and insecurity within a relationship. The accompanying video follows honestav as he reflects on different stages of his life and career.
The release follows a series of singles that introduced the album throughout the past year. Earlier this month, Rockum covered the collaboration between honestav and mgk in the article honestav and mgk Release 'Crash First' Video Ahead of 'Sweet American Boy' Album, documenting one of the final previews before the arrival of the full record.
In addition to mgk, the album features guest appearances from JaYy Wick and Damien Styles. The project blends elements of alternative rock, indie-folk, hip-hop and pop across its sixteen tracks.
Sweet American Boy follows honestav's debut album hara-kiri, which included the song "I'd Rather Overdose" and helped introduce the Missouri-born artist to a wider audience.

The Sweet American Boy Tour begins in August and includes 44 scheduled performances across North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Raised in rural Missouri, honestav began releasing music independently in 2021. His work combines alternative, indie-folk, hip-hop and pop influences while drawing from personal experiences and autobiographical themes.
With Sweet American Boy, honestav expands on the foundation established by his debut release while documenting a period of personal change through a collection of songs that blend multiple musical influences.
