New single arrives ahead of the band's fourth studio album and European Dance To The Grave Tour MMXXVI
GREEN LUNG have released their new single and video, "Necropolitan Line", the latest preview of the band's forthcoming fourth studio album, Necropolitan, scheduled for release on September 11, 2026.
The song draws inspiration from London's historic Necropolis Railway, a real train line that transported coffins and mourners across the city during the late nineteenth century.
According to the band, the track also takes influence from the 1972 horror film Death Line, combining those themes with an organ and guitar-driven arrangement inspired by classic hard rock.
Green Lung commented:
"Is there a more fitting subject for a Green Lung song than the Necropolis Railway, a real-life train line that carried corpses and mourners across London in the late 19th Century? Mix in some inspiration from 1972's London Underground-set shocker Death Line, a madcap neoclassical organ/guitar duel that evokes Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord at their finger blistering best, and a record Lung BPM of 180, and you have the second single from our fourth album."
"Necropolitan Line" is the second song unveiled from the upcoming album Necropolitan.
Earlier this year, Rockum covered the announcement of the record and the release of its first single in the article Green Lung Announce Necropolitan Album and Unveil Evil In This House Video, documenting the first chapter of the band's fourth studio album.
The accompanying video was directed by Tracy Mathewson and features animation created by Joseph Brett. Inspired by the early 1970s German television program Beat Club, the video presents the band's own interpretation of the format under the title Crypt Club.
Produced, recorded and mixed by Tom Dalgety, Necropolitan was tracked at Rockfield Studios in Wales during January 2026. The sessions focused on capturing a more direct representation of the band's live sound while retaining the organ, Mellotron and guitar-driven elements that characterize Green Lung's music.
The album follows 2023's This Heathen Land and continues the band's exploration of British folklore, history and occult themes.

Formed in London, Green Lung emerged with the independently released EP Free The Witch in 2018 before issuing the albums Woodland Rites (2019), Black Harvest (2021) and This Heathen Land (2023). Their work combines elements of heavy rock, doom metal, progressive rock and British folklore.
With "Necropolitan Line", Green Lung continue the rollout of Necropolitan, offering another look at the themes and musical direction of the band's fourth studio album ahead of its September release.
