First release through InsideOutMusic arrives as the band completes work on a new studio album and prepares for UK, European and North American tour dates
Progressive rock outfit The Pineapple Thief have released their new single and video, "Hold The Ashes", marking the band's first release through InsideOutMusic.
The track arrives shortly after the group completed work on an as-yet-unannounced new studio album and ahead of a series of live appearances across Europe, the United Kingdom and North America.
According to frontman Bruce Soord, the song explores themes of mortality and the search for meaning in life.
"One thing is certain, one day we'll all be ashes. It's the gift from the gods that comes to us all. For some reason, when writing this song, I couldn't stop singing about ashes in the context of understanding what life is about. Writhing in constant conflict. Why? So take these ashes and scatter them far and wide. You know, make the most of it."
The accompanying video was directed by longtime collaborator Jeremy George of Blacktide Productions and features the band performing the song at School Farm Studios in the United Kingdom.
"Hold The Ashes" marks the band's first release through InsideOutMusic and arrives as The Pineapple Thief prepare to unveil their next studio album.
Rockum previously covered the band with the release of The Pineapple Thief's New Single and Video Versions Of The Truth, documenting an earlier chapter in the group's recording career.
Founded by Bruce Soord in 1999, The Pineapple Thief have become one of progressive rock's most recognizable acts, releasing sixteen studio albums and touring extensively around the world. The current lineup features Bruce Soord (vocals, guitars), Jon Sykes (bass), Steve Kitch (keyboards), and Gavin Harrison (drums).
