German Death Metal Band Unveils Video From Farewell EP Coffin Born, Out Now Via Metal Blade Records
German death metal outfit ENDSEEKER have released a special cover version of "True Survivor", originally performed by David Hasselhoff for the cult action-comedy film Kung Fury. The track, which features guest appearances from Lord Of The Lost, appears on the band's farewell EP Coffin Born, available now through Metal Blade Records.
The song arrives alongside an official video and serves as the closing track on the EP, marking the final chapter in ENDSEEKER's recording career after more than a decade together.
According to the band, the idea came from a genuine appreciation for the original version of the song and a desire to create something unexpected.
"In the first place, we just love this song. It's from the movie Kung Fury which absolutely everyone must watch because it's a masterpiece and this song is probably the best performance of Hasselhoff ever. We asked our friends in Lord Of The Lost if they would like to join us because we felt like it needed some extra glitter. We think it turned out amazing."
Originally recorded by David Hasselhoff, widely known for his roles in television series such as Knight Rider and Baywatch, "True Survivor" became one of the standout moments of the 2015 film Kung Fury. ENDSEEKER's version transforms the retro anthem into a death metal interpretation while preserving the spirit of the original track.
The release also marks the conclusion of the Hamburg band's journey. Reflecting on their decision to call it a day, the musicians noted that they wanted to end the band on their own terms while maintaining the friendships that had defined the project since its inception.
"We've accomplished more than we have ever imagined in our wildest dreams. We played with fantastic bands, played super-cool festivals, and released four albums and two EPs of which we are extremely proud. We wanted to end this band like we started – as very good friends. We started with an EP and we end it with an EP."
Since the release of their debut EP Corrosive Revelation in 2015, ENDSEEKER steadily established themselves within the European death metal scene. Albums such as Mount Carcass (2021) and Global Worming (2023) expanded their audience while showcasing the band's blend of Swedish-inspired death metal, hardcore aggression and melodic intensity.
Produced by the band and featuring drum engineering by Eike Freese, whose credits include work with Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Helloween, Coffin Born serves as ENDSEEKER's final studio release.
