Third single from the upcoming debut album Survivor arrives ahead of its October release through Mascot Records
KINGDOM COLLAPSE have released their new single, a high-energy reinterpretation of Natasha Bedingfield's hit "Unwritten", continuing the promotional campaign for their debut album Survivor, due out on October 30 through Mascot Records.
The San Antonio, Texas-based rock band transform the multi-platinum pop anthem into a guitar-driven modern rock track while preserving its central message of self-empowerment and resilience.
Frontman Jonathan Norris explained why the song has remained meaningful to him for years.
"I remember first hearing 'Unwritten' and I had to be 11 or 12 at the time. That song got stuck in my head and never left. It's an anthem for embracing life and embracing yourself, so the message fits perfectly with what we do. Throw a big wall of rhythm guitars on that chorus and there you have it."
The release marks the third single from Survivor, following the title track and "Watch You Bleed", both of which introduced the themes explored throughout the band's first full-length album.
Rather than simply recreating the original, Kingdom Collapse reshape "Unwritten" into a heavier arrangement featuring driving guitars, modern hard rock production and the band's signature melodic approach.
The upcoming album continues the group's exploration of perseverance, personal growth and overcoming adversity — themes closely connected to the band's own story.
Kingdom Collapse originated from the longtime friendship between vocalist Jonathan Norris and bassist Aaron Smith, whose shared passion for music began during childhood. Following the loss of his father at an early age, Norris found comfort in music, an experience that continues to influence the band's songwriting today.
Since signing with Mascot Records, Kingdom Collapse have continued expanding their audience with a series of singles while maintaining an extensive touring schedule throughout North America.
The band recently completed a U.S. run with RED and will continue touring during the summer alongside Royale Lynn, Of Virtue, Savage Hands and additional festival appearances.
