The Australian technical death metal band previews The Pulse Of Annihilation with “No Blade Of Grass,” featuring comments from Joe Haley, Todd Stern and Jason Peppiatt before the album’s July 17, 2026 release
PSYCROPTIC have released “No Blade Of Grass”, a single from the band’s upcoming full-length album The Pulse Of Annihilation, scheduled for release on July 17, 2026 through Metal Blade Records. The album marks the Australian technical death metal band’s first full-length release for the label.
Joe Haley described “No Blade Of Grass” as a track that brings together older PSYCROPTIC riffing with sections connected to classic death metal.
“This one has a good blend of old-school PSYCROPTIC-style riffage and slightly sludge filled, loosey-goosey sections straight outta the classic death metal era,” said Joe Haley. “The whole thing is brought together with the choral/orchestral chorus. Something for everyone! Going to be a fun one to rip live!”
Todd Stern pointed to the song’s main verse as one of his preferred moments on The Pulse Of Annihilation, describing the section through its riffing and forward movement.
“It’s an unbelievably catchy tune! The main verse is one of my favorite bits on the whole record. Classic riffage, steam rolling the whole song forward with solid momentum all along. Badass.”
Jason Peppiatt explained that “No Blade Of Grass” was the first song written for PSYCROPTIC by vocalist Jason Keyser, adding that Keyser’s involvement brought different ideas to the band’s writing process.
“I had so much fun with this song as it was the first song that Jason Keyser had written for the band and it was awesome to have someone bring different ideas to the table than what I normally would. Vocally it’s nice and fast and has a real sick flow and groove to vocal parts.”
PSYCROPTIC released an official video for “No Blade Of Grass”. The band had previously released a video for “Gathering A Venomous Herd”, the first single from The Pulse Of Annihilation.
The Pulse Of Annihilation features cover artwork by Belial Necroarts, whose credited work includes Gaerea and In Aeternum. The album will be released on digipak CD, digital formats and multiple vinyl editions.
The album follows Divine Council, the previous PSYCROPTIC full-length, and features the dual-vocal pairing of Jason Peppiatt and Jason Keyser of Origin. According to the source material, that partnership debuted on Divine Council and continues on The Pulse Of Annihilation.
The press release describes PSYCROPTIC as a band with more than two decades of activity in technical death metal, beginning from Tasmanian origins and building a reputation around rhythmic complexity and exacting musicianship.
