The California groove metal band preview Strike and Kill with its title track while continuing the album cycle previously documented through “Dig Your Own Grave” and “Dead In The Water”

The title track follows previous album singles “Dig Your Own Grave” and “Dead In The Water.” Rockum previously covered those earlier parts of the album cycle in DevilDriver Announce 'Strike and Kill' Album and Release 'Dig Your Own Grave' Video Ahead of 2026 Tour and DevilDriver Preview 'Strike and Kill' With New Single 'Dead In The Water' and Official Video.

“Strike and Kill” is described by frontman Dez Fafara as a song about consequences, hard lessons and decisions made under emotional pressure.
“‘Strike and Kill’ is a song about individuals that have to learn lessons the hard way,” Fafara said. “Sometimes in life, you need to learn things the hard way in order to make your next decision or next move properly. Beware the moves you make at midnight behind emotion and without any thought of consequence. For you will learn lessons, and they will be taught to you the hard way.”
The source material connects the track to the heavier side of DevilDriver’s sound, referencing elements of melodic death metal, slam, groove and thrash.
