The new single “Reckless Sailor (Black Flag Rises)” reimagines “Drunken Sailor” in collaboration with Ubisoft Germany for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
Visions Of Atlantis and Saltatio Mortis have released “Reckless Sailor (Black Flag Rises),” a new single and official music video created in collaboration with Ubisoft Germany for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The song reimagines the sea shanty “Drunken Sailor” through the combined sound of Visions Of Atlantis and Saltatio Mortis, connecting symphonic metal, medieval rock elements and maritime atmosphere.
“Reckless Sailor (Black Flag Rises)” brings together the vocal performances of Clémentine Delauney and Michele Guaitoli with a new arrangement built around guitars, maritime melodies and the pirate setting associated with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The source material frames the song as an anthem of freedom, courage and life beyond convention, created to match the spirit of the game’s seafaring world.
Visions Of Atlantis and Saltatio Mortis released the official video for “Reckless Sailor (Black Flag Rises).”
The video accompanies the collaboration with Ubisoft Germany and connects the song visually to the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced campaign.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced revisits the pirate world of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The collaboration with Visions Of Atlantis and Saltatio Mortis uses the sea shanty tradition as a musical bridge between the game’s maritime identity and the bands’ own theatrical approach.
Rockum’s archive includes Visions Of Atlantis’ Michele Guaitoli Interview With Gino Alache, a conversation published in 2024 that documents the band’s creative perspective through one of its vocalists.
Rockum also covered Visions Of Atlantis Unleashes “Hellfire” Official Music Video, continuing the archive around the band’s modern era.
The band’s live presence in Canada was also documented in Visions Of Atlantis Conquered Toronto With An Epic Show.
Earlier coverage also includes Visions Of Atlantis Announce Physical Edition Of Live Album, Armada Live Over Europe and Visions Of Atlantis Reveals Third Single “Tonight I’m Alive” + Official Music Video.
Saltatio Mortis were founded in 2000 and have become one of Germany’s established medieval rock acts. The band combines traditional instruments such as bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and drums with modern rock elements.
The source material notes that Saltatio Mortis have performed at major festivals including Wacken Open Air, M’era Luna and Summer Breeze.
Visions Of Atlantis released Pirates in 2022 and Pirates II – Armada in 2024, strengthening the band’s connection to maritime storytelling, symphonic metal and pirate imagery.
The collaboration with Saltatio Mortis places that identity inside a wider project connected to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, using one of the most recognizable sea shanties as the foundation for a new recording.
