GWAR are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Beyond Hell with a newly remastered deluxe edition of the 2006 album.

The anniversary edition marks the first time Beyond Hell has been available on vinyl. The album has been remastered by Paul Logus, whose credits include work connected to Anthrax and Killswitch Engage.

The release also includes a previously unreleased outro track recorded during the original Beyond Hell sessions and left off the original album.

To mark the announcement, GWAR have shared the remastered version of “Eighth Lock.”

The band have also released the long-lost official video for “Eighth Lock,” connecting the anniversary edition to visual material from the Beyond Hell era.

Originally released in 2006, Beyond Hell remains one of GWAR’s most theatrical albums. The record was produced by Devin Townsend, bringing together two distinctive creative forces in heavy music.

Townsend recalled his connection to the band and the original recording process.

“I had been a GWAR fan since I was a kid. I loved the freedom, the metal, the spectacle, and the passion that went into it all,” Townsend said.

He also described how he became involved in the album.

“I met Brockie on a tour we did together and, after cornering him in an elevator basically telling him I'd work for free, I found myself co-producing Beyond Hell. Dave and Corey came to Vancouver to stay with me, and we recorded at Profile Studios. The drums and basic tracks were done at Slave Pit in Richmond, Virginia, and the whole process took about three months.”

Townsend added:

“GWAR were, and are, an amazing combination of artistic freedom, absurdity, and hard work bundled up with metal and performance. Loved them then, love them now.”

Beyond Hell chronicled GWAR’s descent into Hell to rescue their long-lost comrade Flattus Maximus.

The album includes songs such as “Back In Crack,” “Womb With A View,” “Tormentor” and “The Ultimate Bohab.”

The Gor Gor Must Die! tour features direct support from Midnight, with Mac Sabbath opening every night. X-COPS and Atomic Rule appear on select dates.

GWAR have long built their identity around heavy music, theatrical shock rock, character-driven mythology and live performance spectacle. Beyond Hell remains one of the band’s most concept-heavy releases, connecting their metal sound to a narrative descent through the underworld.

The 20th anniversary edition places that era back into circulation with new mastering, expanded physical presentation and a first vinyl release for the album.

With the 20th anniversary edition of Beyond Hell, GWAR revisit one of their most theatrical albums with remastered audio, a first-ever vinyl pressing, deluxe packaging and the long-lost video for “Eighth Lock.” The release also connects the band’s 2006 underworld narrative to their 2026 live activity, with the Gor Gor Must Die! tour carrying GWAR’s mythology back across North America.
