The Swedish metal band will reissue The Last Stand on September 11, 2026 with bonus tracks, limited vinyl editions and live footage from Sabaton Open Air 2016
Sabaton have announced The Last Stand 10th Anniversary Edition, a limited reissue of their 2016 album, scheduled for release on September 11, 2026 through Nuclear Blast Records.
The anniversary edition revisits one of the band’s central albums with a new expanded presentation that includes all bonus tracks, limited editions with alternative artwork and live video material recorded at Sabaton Open Air 2016.
The Last Stand was first released in 2016. The album became one of Sabaton’s most recognizable releases, with songs such as “The Last Stand,” “Winged Hussars,” “Shiroyama” and “Sparta” becoming part of the band’s modern setlist identity.
The source material states that The Last Stand reached the worldwide Top 10 and hit No. 1 in multiple countries. The album continued the band’s historical metal approach, building songs around battles, soldiers and defining moments from military history.
Bassist Pär Sundström connected the anniversary edition to memories from the album’s original cycle and to the band’s history with guitarist Thobbe Englund.
“Who would have believed that 10 years could fly by so fast? We have so many great memories tied to ‘The Last Stand,’ so we're really happy to celebrate its 10th anniversary with the special edition vinyl and digibook with all the extras.”
Sundström also highlighted the bonus video footage included with the digibook edition.
“If you get your hands on the digibook, you'll find bonus video footage that captures Thobbe - our guitarist - playing his final show with us at Sabaton Open Air in 2016 before stepping away for an eight-year vacation. In a way, it became his own ‘Last Stand’!”
He added that the footage has new meaning after Englund’s return to the band.
“Of course, none of us knew at the time that he'd eventually return to the band in 2024, which makes looking back at those moments even more meaningful. It's a poignant chapter in our history, and the perfect thing to share as we celebrate the album's 10th birthday.”
