The power metal band introduce the first single from Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath, out October 16 through Napalm Records, with an animated video directed by Alex Henderson
Gloryhammer have released “Ultimate Sacrifice,” the first single from their upcoming album Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath, scheduled for release on October 16, 2026 through Napalm Records.
The new single arrives with an animated video directed by Alex Henderson and continues the band’s ongoing science-fantasy power metal saga.
Rockum previously covered the album announcement in Gloryhammer Announce New Album Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath, documenting the return of the band’s intergalactic storyline ahead of the release of “Ultimate Sacrifice.”
“Ultimate Sacrifice” introduces the conflict at the center of Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath. According to the source material, Elder God Kor-Virliath returns to conquer the universe after Zargothrax’s failed ritual, while the Space Kingdom Of Fife appears to be abandoned to its fate.
The track uses choirs and orchestral arrangements as part of the album’s broader production approach, combining Gloryhammer’s hook-driven power metal with a larger cinematic scale.
The band framed the song as the next episode in their continuing story.
“Mighty warriors! Prepare for battles of galactic steel! Will Angus McFife V fulfill his dream of flying away on a unicorn? What was the true fate of the Hootsman after he imploded? Find out now, in the next episode of GLORYHAMMER!”
Gloryhammer released the animated video for “Ultimate Sacrifice.”
Directed by Alex Henderson, the video follows the summoning of Kor-Virliath and the heroes’ quest to fight him. The source material describes the video as structured in the style of a television series, extending the band’s album narrative into a visual chapter.
Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath is the fifth album from Gloryhammer. The album serves as a direct sequel to Space 1992: Rise Of The Chaos Wizards, released in 2015.
The story follows Angus McFife V, Crown Prince of Fife, who was last seen in the 2022 single “Fly Away.” The new album places him on a journey across spacetime toward the distant future of 1993.
Gloryhammer described the album as a new chapter in the history of the Intergalactic Empire of Fife.
“Mighty warriors, rejoice! The almighty GLORYHAMMER return triumphantly with a new chapter in the long and tumultuous history of the Intergalactic Empire of Fife. Multidimensional wormholes, abandoned space stations, and EPIC BATTLES await at the final frontier of Space 1993. FOR THE ETERNAL GLORY OF DUNDEE!”
The album was produced by the band and mixed by Jacob Hansen, whose credits include Volbeat and Amaranthe.
“Ultra Portam Astralem” opens the album with drums and fanfare, setting up the cinematic tone of the record.
“Ultimate Sacrifice” explains the return of Kor-Virliath and the danger facing the Space Kingdom Of Fife.
“On A Quest For Aberdeen”, previously released as a standalone single, appears in an album version and is placed within the wider narrative of the record. Rockum previously covered that track in Gloryhammer Release Brand New Single “On A Quest For Aberdeen” And Music Video.
The album also includes “Die With A Sword In My Hand,” “Silver Talon,” “Starfighters Of Leuchars,” “Warriors Of Auchtermuchty,” “Pax Galactica,” “Demonic Devotion” and “Hammer Of Fate.”
The closing track, “The Celestial Warhost Of The Dundonian Empire Marches To Space Against The Dark Sorcerer: Final Assault On Battlemoon X-22,” is described in the source material as an epic approaching 13 minutes and split into four theatrical chapters.

Gloryhammer continue to build their catalog around a serialized power metal universe that mixes heroic fantasy, science-fiction comedy, intergalactic warfare and the mythology of Dundee.
With Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath, the band return to the timeline established by Space 1992: Rise Of The Chaos Wizards while expanding the story through new characters, conflicts, locations and a larger orchestral production.
The new album also broadens the band’s musical range, with the source material pointing to classic power metal, thrash elements, high-energy synth rock and orchestral soundscapes.
Documented here, “Ultimate Sacrifice,” Gloryhammer open the next chapter of Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath with an animated video that brings the return of Kor-Virliath into the band’s wider narrative. The single connects the album’s science-fantasy storyline, expanded production and 2026 tour cycle, setting up another campaign for the Eternal Glory of Dundee.
